The center has also guidelines for behaviour which include no smoking, minor contact between men and women and sensitivity for the cultural expectation of the local people as regards to dress, manners etc. Godwin Samararatne is the resident teacher; he has travelled and taught widely in the West as well as in Sri Lanka and other Asian countries. The center has not set retreat periods, but an on-going daily schedule of meditation periods, time for individual practice and enjoyment of nature, working meditation, sharing and discussions and yoga classes. To reach Nilambe a taxi-van can be hires from the center of Kandy. Otherwise one can catch a 633 bus to Galaha, but then you have a one hour climb up the hill to the meditation center.
